PEEK

Here is a little peek into my design for the Heimtextil fair..

My inspiration came from winter, snow and ice. I`m going to design a lamp because I want to
make something usable. I was inspired by the lightness and delicacy of tulle.
Many times tulle is considered as a "wedding fabric", but I want to show that it can be used in many other ways too.

Here are some inspiration photos:

For this surface design I have used only gray tulle and foil tying them up in small "pearls". I want the fabric to maintain its characteristic and lightness so I´m reaching an impression with the design where the lamp is "floating" in the air.

My INSPIRATION //.

My style is to combine something intense with delicate.

I have always been inspired by stones; their texture, colours and how you can see the flow of time in them. Right now I’m enthusiastic about minerals. The earth's crust and the stones consist mainly of minerals. There are about 4000 minerals; about 20-30 minerals form all of the stones.

For this project I’m making a lamp shade which is inspired by minerals; their shine, shape and textures. I went to few museums to study the minerals and took some pictures. Most inspiring minerals for me are quartz, gypsum, dolomite, harmotome and amethyst.

Colours for my lamp shade are silver, white and grey. Currently I’m experimenting with materials like straws, fake silver leaf, cotton, linen and fabric stiffener.

Here are my most inspiring pictures I took from the Mineral cabinet
(starting from the top): quartz, gypsum, dolomite, harmotome & amethyst.

I’m excited to see the results, fingers crossed! I will tell you more later on.

Heimtextil 2014 is getting closer!

Keep your eyes open, a lot more posts and photos coming up soon! Our team had a few courses in school in the middle of the autumn so there's a reason why you haven't heard from us in a while.

Our journey to Heimtextil is getting closer and right now we are working like crazy. You will be hearing a lot more about our progress during rest of the year and of course in the beginning of next year when we'll be finally travelling to Frankfurt.

Right now among the actual designing work we are working on our portfolio, business cards and flyers for ourselves to take them with us to the fair. More of that later too.

Just a short post to say hi and to let you know that you will see some superb designs in the very near future. We'll keep you posted!
